With a father's plea to have his children for one last summer before Ronnie becomes an adult, the mother agrees to leave the children with him for the entire summer despite all differences. After spending countless hours watching over a nest of Sea Turtle eggs Ronnie begins to break down the walls of resentment. In spite of her anger she begins to enjoy the longs days on the beach of North Carolina letting her true personality come through with the help of young romance.

Father and son spend countless hours together working to repair the window of the local church. One that the people of the town believe was burnt to the ground by the father.

When tragedy strikes Ronnie realizes the time she wasted thinking of herself and what she felt with not important but all that really matters is family. The only gift she truly has to give is her song but will she finish it in time? When the window to the church is repaired it symbolizes the broken family that over the time of three month slowly was repaired.

The story leaves you with a feeling of never taking love for granted, of the constant love a parent has for a child. Sparks reminds us that real love is unconditional. The Last Song is a must see for anyone who feels broken by love, it is a reminder that love heals and life is full of surprises.
